Orange Goblin @ Kentish Town Forum 17/12/25 with Grand Magus/Urne

Image
Early on in their career Urne had the pleasure of being taken out on the road with Orange Goblin. Now, as a band the torch of British Heavy Metal is being handed to, they have the honour of opening the final show for Orange Goblin. Fans are already jumping around the pit and singing along to favourites. They end their set with the crushing Harken the Waves which even without Troy Sanders leaves an immeasurable impact. Grand Magus are also a band that owe part of their reputation to their early tours with Orange Goblin are a fitting support. They plough through their Doom Metal back catalogue hitting songs such as Like the Oar Strikes the Water and Hammer of the North which ends with the audience continuing to chant the melody long after the set is ended, and the onstage pictures have been taken. For 30 odd years Orange Goblin have been banging out the hits, changing their sound, lineup changes and quitting their day jobs to do the band full time. T...

Deity and Devilry @ The Devonshire Arms, Camden 29/11/25Terrorborn Skin Changer (Skull Maiden – missed)

Image
Due to some local transport issues I’m late to check out Skull Maiden but the buzz around the Dev in regards to their set is very positive from both the other bands and the punters. Skin Changer are the first of two bands who are playing their first London gigs. The progressive power trio from Norwich introduce us to songs like Mortal Coil and Doppleganger, ripping through solos and tight progressive rhythms with Death Metal and Djent influences. Terraborn (I have misspelled this bands name three times across various social media posts for which I apologise) have emerged from their post-apocalyptic dwellings armed to the teeth with explosive riffs, gunfire like drums and an all out war attitude. Masked, mutated and grimey they sound like if GWAR had joined Slipknot and play with as much aggression with added tongue cheek humour. They close their set arming the audience with machetes and chainsaws to pit of mangled headbanging lifeforms. Seeing how...

UK Death Dealers Present in association with London Metal Coalition: The Road to London Metal Pride. Signiture Brew, Haggerston 06/12/25

Gay Pride 2025 was the first ever London Metal Pride event, celebrating queer musicians in the scene. The Metal and Hardcore scenes have seen rise in non-binary, queer and trans folk in recent years so having a stage during the summers biggest LGBTQ+ event is as integral now as ever before. The event in 2025 was hosted by LMC member and Davghter Front-woman Izzy and showcases queer and queer aligned bands battling for a place for the 2026 London Metal Pride. Five bands compete (was six but one pulled out) with London True Trans Black Metal band Davghter as special headliners. But it’s the punters who will decide the outcome as each have been given a voting chip to be placed in ballot boxes after the fifth band finished. Opening contenders Scene It All delivered some punchy late 90s/early 00s nostalgic Emo Pop Punk. Doctor Black blend heavy Alt-Metal riffs with melodic hooks and fill the air with middle fingers as the audience is asked shout ‘fuck you’ whatever makes anyone...
