London Gig Guide 02/04/26
I'm posting this late as it took me longer to bother put it togther and finish it due to work kicking my arse and life in generla. I still incuded the Thursday lisitngs becuase I feel just mentionting these bands is relevant. I went to the Mastiff gig last night at Blondies. If you've never been there its a very small initmate setting for gig where the bands play right the entrance, so the security guy had to wait to let people in between songs resulting in a walk of shame. WhenI arrived there was someone struggling to get in as they didnt have their ID, I tried to assist but the security dude was just doing his job. They eventually got in and had interesting chat with them. They gave a copy of me a copy their zine called A Zine About Anti-Ableism and reminded me that Shooting Daggers are playing this weekend.
As for the rest of this long Ishtar weekend, fuck me theres a lot to choose from. So dont wallow at home shoving fistfulls of chocolate in your face. The London Metal Coalition decend on Nambucca with 7 bands playig at the recently reopened north London venue in on Holloway Road. They're celebrating the birthday of the poor guy whos left running around after them and making sure LMC shows go smoothly.
Up the road in Camden another LMC gig at the Dev with Deity and Devilry headling and thier recently recruited bass player Drew playing a solo set as Drew Deathnir. Deathnir is a Thrash Metal project from back in his native New Zealnf so go and support those guys and girls. Helgis brings the misery and the weird to their cavern of iniquity over Friday and Saturday.
The gardest choice is Sunday. The Dev has Apapthy UK with Perpetual Paradox. I already promised myself that this is the gig I'm going to. Then I spent sometime this week checking out Kulk. I know everyone is cumming all over the new Neurosis and this is definalty on for the post metal fans who may not have checked them out yet. Its going to be Apathy for me as they're one of the sickest UK bands right now bleding genres and melting your face with Schuldiner esque solos. I swaer that Ryder kid was born with a guitar in his hand.
Next week is aready looking good but gonna throw in a reminder for the Cult of Dissolution night at the Underworld with Trivax/Sidious/Sthalsarg/Laybrys. Its at the Underworld on the 9th and becuase its at the Underworld theres a 10pm curfew so, go buy tickets and get down there early.
