London Gig Guide 16/07/26

Last couple of weeks have been kind of quiet, apart from Iron Maiden, SOAD and Metallica rolling into town, and I’ve been dealing with personal shit so not really been that focused. Back on it this week even if just to feel a little bit useful. A lot going on Saturday. I’m going to be at the Dev for Regicide and Halberd as I can’t afford either of the two gigs I wanted to hit. One of them being Ael-Freilan at Helgi’s. Been wanting to see them live for a while now and their album is on constant rotation. Saying that, I keep seeing them described as Post Black Metal when I thought they were Dark Gothic Metal with some Folk Horror undertones. Either way I highly recommend them. The other gig I wanted to check out is the Rise of the Valkyries which hosts gigs ‘celebrating women and non-binary Metalheads.’ This will be their third edition and it’s a great lineup featuring The Silent Era, Maatkare and the Slaughtering plus more. There's also something violent looking over at the New River Studios where they love an independent Harcore showcase. The Dev in Camden has nothing down for Friday but Regicide Saturday and Rozemary randomly on a Tuesday so, never mind it being a school night get your dancing shoes on and support your local scene.

In case I don’t get to it next week, on the 26th at Cart and Horses there’s an afternoon family friendly event put on by Crowblind Events with Contortious, Scratch Cat and Forgotten Sentiment with a headline set from London Viking raiding party Call of Fenrir. Its 1pm-6pm, £5 entry on the door. Call of Fenrir also just announced details of their debut album The Heathen Horde which will be released on 25th September.

As usual I may have missed something as I was rushing one so, do give me a shout if I have or you’re in a band with an upcoming gig that needs a bit of a push.
